Hi, I am Bonnie
Registered Clinical Counsellor
Master of Counselling Psychology
I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors.
I created The Breathing Room as a space where people can slow down and make room for experiences that may have been difficult to name, understand, or share.
A space that feels a little quieter,
a little softer,
and a little less overwhelming.
How I work
Where we begin
You don’t need to arrive with the right words. We can start with what’s been on your mind, even if it’s hard to explain.
What matters to you
I’ll ask about the relationships, culture, and experiences that shape your life. You get to tell me what fits and what I’m missing.
What a session might look like
Some days, you may want space to say something out loud. Other days, we might practise grounding, explore a pattern in a relationship, or work out how to set a boundary.
-
I work with adults navigating experiences such as:
Emotional overwhelm, anxiety, low mood, and burnout
Grief, loss, and life transitions
Chronic illness, disability, and health-related changes
Caregiving stress and helper fatigue
Relationship patterns, boundaries, and self-worth
Identity changes and feeling disconnected from yourself
The pressure to stay strong or hold everything together
-
My work is grounded in a person-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach.
Depending on your needs, preferences, and goals, I may draw from cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness, self-compassion, and parts-informed approaches.
These approaches may help us notice patterns in thoughts, emotions, and relationships, make sense of your experiences, recognize strengths and possibilities, develop practical coping strategies, and create space for different parts of your experience to be understood.
I do not believe that one approach fits everyone. We will work collaboratively to explore what feels meaningful, manageable, and useful for you, and adjust the counselling process as your needs evolve.
